Removing thermowax...
 

My coolant nipples on the throttle body are hosed, and I've had trouble finding one. So I want to remove the thermowax since there won't be any coolant going to the tb. Can I just take it off, or do I have to have something to block the holes that it leaves?? I'm not removing the throttle plates, just the thermowax so I won't have a high idle all the time since no coolant will be going through. Thanks!

Reroute the coolant hose and remove the thermowax. There's only coolant going through it, not manifold vacuum.

I wouldn't... Try to source another one. Just find ANY TB for sale in the classifieds and take that thermowax off and transfer it over. It helps immensely during winter if you plan on driving the car. I relied on mine completely and was able to start/drive my car in 20 degree weather because of it. It gave me no problems.

Of course there is the infamous throttle body mod where you remove it and it gives you 100x better throttle response and 25 extra HP!!!!!!

I'm not sure which TB you've got, but I know on mine that the coolant nipple on the side (S4 TII) can be replaced. He's right, though. The thermowax, if operating properly, will help cold starts tremendously. Otherwise, you're holding your foot on the gas until it's warm.

It'll never be driven in winter, at all. It's in storage at that time. I want to get the car running, if it becomes an issue I'll get another tb, not like it's hard to swap them out.

Body is in far to good of shape to drive around northern mn in the winter. LoL

I disabled mine a very long time ago by screwing the screw all the way in. (i dont suggest this by the way) Im sure it wasnt the main cause of my looping idle while warming up and the damn idle would take forever to come down. For the longest time now my car doesnt loop and it only takes a matter of 30sec or less with my foot on the gas to hold an idle. All in all it seems pointless for me.
