removing fan shroud

Mine is all beat up. I was wondering if it would be bad to either hack part of it up, or just remove it all together.
Is it that bad to run the car without it? or does it depend on the terrain

Your fan will not be as efficient without it. It's possible to run it w/o the shroud, but your water temps will be higher, as you won't have the shroud to direct air flow away from the rad.

^^^^ Like he said. Our cars overheat pretty easy if all the shrouds aren't in place including the lower ones. It directs the air through the rad better.

If you do decide to remove it, get yourself a large electric fan. One that covers the whole radiator surface, and has a cfm rate near the stock unit

Exactly. I wouldn't get rid of it unless you are going to a shrouded efan (Taurus). Otherwise, leave yours on or buy another one that's in better shape.

Pretty much every car made in the last 30 years that has an engine-driven fan will have a fan shroud, as the fan is very inefficient without one.

It makes a great tool shelf too... :)
