Removing exhaust heatshield...
 

Hey,

If I take the exhaust heat shield off... the one from the header (not the one around the header though) to the cat will I set the lawn on fire If (when) I park on it?

NO. I just ran mine for 3 hours with just a downpipe on the turbo and no shields. just a darker color ground is all that happened.

Thanks... then I guess I'll take them off since they are rusty and squeek/rattle...

It will get warm when driving though. Just not anything serious.

so you can run your turbo with no heat sheild?

For now till the new engine is broken in. Then i will finish the exhaust.

You can laugh about the burned lawn, but I lost a car that started grass on fire from the hot exhaust and burned the car up. My little bro (those damn little brothers) borrowed my '87 and then proceeded to borrow it to a roommate. The roomie went hunting out in the country in the fall and parked on the side of the road. The exhaust started the grass on fire which proceeded to burn/melt the car. My little bro said he knew something was up when the roomie got a ride home in the firetruck. Not to fear, the roomie was in college and his parents homeowner's policy paid for the damage to the car. I came out with more $$$ than I had invested. Not bad.

Well if the grass is touching the exhaust that would probably be bad but mine is not and haven't seen anything happen from it.
