removing bolts, downpipe install
Help, it's 1:26 am and I'm trying to install a RB downpipe with presilencer, but one of the bolts on cat-y-pipe is hard to get to and not coming off, and the two bolts from the exhaust manifold to the first piping are also not coming off easily, some suggestions please

Hacksaw.
Soak in a wd-40 type nut buster :D hehe |
Got What You Need!!
I have installed the same exhaust on my car.
THis is what I did: bought some penetrating oil to lube up all bolts. Let it soak for about 5-10 minutes. The bolts by the cat-y-pipe should come off fairly easily after soaking. If not then re-apply the penetrating oil and wait a little longer. Do this until they come off. THe header to downpipe bolts are another story. THey don't have hex heads. They are threaded all the way with two nuts holding each one on. These are much more difficult to remove. Using the penetrating oil and a little muscle I finally got them off after an hour. One was bent, one was stripped. The bent bolt was still able to be used (thank goodness) and the stripped bolt was re-threaded using a metric tap and die (the nut needed re-threaded also). My advice: penetrating oil and patience. You can do it. Just be careful and take your time... I can't stress that enough. |
One more thing!!
Dont forget to use anti-sieze compound on the new nuts and bolts with your pipes!

thanks for all the input, I'll try again thursday
