Removed emissions/ new fuel reg and pump and changed to S5 turbo. serious overfueling
hi, any help and suggestions are greatfully received
firstly, my standard turbo on my 87 FC blew a while back and i have replaced it with a S5 turbo, while the car was off the road i replaced the fuel pump with a walbro unit, i replace the stock FPR with a Malpassi rising rate unit and removed the emissions solenoild and the emissions equip bolted to the inlet manifold and blocked off using (home made) block off plate, i left the BAC in tact and unmolesterd. now im having problems with my car not starting. im getting spark and gas ( and plenty of it) but it wont stark up and i have so much gas in my system ive noticed it leaking from the turbo where the wastegate arm enters to the flapper ( i think thats where its leaking from) any way any ideas or suggestions on things to try and diagonose my problem, i havnt done a comp test yet but its on the cards this week ( proper comp tester) help me pleaseeeee |
turbo blew? check compression.

bad fpr?

The FPR is maybe set too high.
Do you still have the AWS & the thermo-wax cold start fast idle stuff? The ECU expects that they are both open during startup and it feeds extra fuel for them. |
well, i think the FPR is working fine, i dont believe i removed that stuff, just the 4 solenoilds to do with the s4 turbo and FPR, where is the fast idol and AWS stuff located?

Mine wouldnt start either after I did a bunch of stuff to mine. It was flooded very bad. I finally had it pulled down the road and I popped the clutch and now it cranks by itself. Just my 2 cents.

1) at cranking you should not have no more than 38PSI of fuel pressure
2) be sure the injectors are correct for the ECU you are running in the car, S4 uses 2-3 ohm injectors and S5 uses 12 ohm injectors, S4 cars had a resistor pack located in front of the RF strut tower, if you are using S5 injectors you need to remove this resistor pack and solder all the wires together. 3) double check your grounds |
