remove the exhaust diffuser from the new rotor housing?

for all the engine rebuild gurus: I just got the first of the two new rotor housings coming for the rebuild...with an open exhaust, will it be advantageous to get that diffuser out of the exhaust port? it looks like it's held in with 2 roll pins, but is it also "pressed in like hell"?

Remove the diffuser, but not the sleeve itself. Normally, you would just grind out the diffuser, or simply replace the sleeve with one from a TII.

If you are going remove the sleeve, easiest way is to drill out the pins holding it in. Then to reinstall, tap the hole and use an Allen head screw (like a setscrew).

Cool...thanks, Aaron...won't work just taking the whole thing out, huh?

no..fucks up the flow. heres what ya do..cut the 'wings' of the diffuser as much as you can. then break them off with a screwdriver. then grind the whole thing down so its flat across the bottom. unless you can get some TII sleeves, then do as aaron said.

If you pull the whole thing out, you will compromise flow too much. Apparently, flow without the sleeves is terrible.

sounds like a plan, thanks guys...
