reman or used jdm

I'm contemplating which one to go for. Get a reman motor and possibly have the same place port it if the price is good and they're reliable or just have one shipped from japan add a few things put it in and call it good. I've been checking out a few places for the engines from japan seems to be around 1k to 1200 reman wants almost twice as much. do you guys have any suggestions on places to look that don't screw you, have good prices and good quality engines? I have some life left in my engine now so I figure around christmas time to have it all ready to throw in during exodus. Thanks again for the input

USED JDM is internet speak for Japaneese Junkyard engines foisted off on a long trip across the ocean, A J-Spec is a good start for a core to rebuild.

You need to do a cople of things in order to get the most appropriate redponse to your question:

1. What is your budget
2. What are your goals
3. What car is this engine being installed in?

budget isn't much of an problem, probably 2-3 grand is about tops. It's being put in my 90 t2 and as far as goals i just need a new engine and would prefer more power

jspecs can be hit or miss on the condition of one, and you have to rember them oil seals have been in that engine since the 80to early 90's, if u were you, i would get a reman... but thats just me.., but like banzaitoyota said they make a great core for rebuild
