Reliabilty question!

I have:
-a stock N332 ECU.
-550cc primaries and 720cc secondaries.
-FCD
-RB exhaust and presilencer
-K&N intake
-No ported wastegate
-Boost controller set to 10psi.

Is that going to be reliable?

VacavilleFC 05-23-07 02:59 PM

hmmm i believe you need to port your wastegate, other than that whats the miles on your motor?

stylEmon 05-23-07 03:12 PM

need more details about the motor. do you keep up with mantainence?

My car had similar mods when it blew. the motor was put together poorly. No mods can conpensate for a crappy build.

Jspec engine 8.0 front rotor 7.5 rear rotor.

It has not started yet.

VacavilleFC 05-23-07 04:03 PM

what do you mean 8 and 7.5?

Spectator 05-23-07 04:05 PM

compression.

Front rotor is 7.9-8.1-8.0 and rear is 7.4-7.4-7.5

stylEmon 05-23-07 04:41 PM

they need to match

Spectator 05-23-07 04:45 PM

Never heard that before....

stylEmon 05-23-07 05:43 PM

you never heard that you have to have matching rotors before?!

they also have to be matching wieght. you can have macthing compression rotors and still not have a matched pair of rotors.

Some one correct me, but arent there 4 different rotor wieghts?

jl1rx7 05-23-07 06:19 PM

as i have read many times before, get ready for a rebuild. It may last a little while, but almost all J-Spec motors need a rebuild, and with that low of compression numbers it will sooner than later. But if you do it now, you can streetport or bigger and make even more power. Good luck no matter what

VacavilleFC 05-23-07 06:19 PM

what the measurement in PSI?? sorry i don't know metric.

Dude....Seriously...wtf.

When an engine wears out, you lose compression, and not equally. If the engine was new, it would be all the same.

No shit Sherlock. ;)

All around, I have more less 80 PSI in the front rotor and 75 PSI for the rear rotor...for those who know what I'm talking about. ;)

stylEmon 05-23-07 07:47 PM

chill out there canada. i miss read, thinking you were talking about the actual compression of the rotors, not the chamber compression. i am used to seeing it in terms of "80 psi" for example.

VacavilleFC 05-23-07 08:48 PM

another fine example of dead JDM motors

Spectator 05-23-07 09:16 PM

How is it dead?!

I have 80 PSI in front and 75 in rear. Its perfectly good.

BushyTea 05-23-07 10:25 PM

That setup might be reliable but unsure on the fuel issue. Since you are wanting to run the stock ecu there is nothing there to help control the 750 injectors so there will be alot of extra fuel. Might think about a fuel pump upgrade as well.

As for the wastegate I would port it also. Doesn't take that long and I even did mine with a dremel but you might have a place that can do it for you.

The PSI on your rotors though is low from what most use as a standard of what the PSI should be. The numbers do not have to be the exact same though. I might be reading that wrong but this info is going off of if your compression number are the 80 psi and 75psi.

Quoted from Rotary Resurrection

115+ is like new, 100-115 is healthy, 90-100 is getting weak(1 year or less in most cases) below 90 could blow at any moment.
