Redling buzzer?

My redline buzzer is randomly going off, mostly when i make a turn or go over a bump. I think its just a loose connection but has anyone ever had this happen to them? If so how'd ya fix it?

Please read the FAQ for FC before posting. It has many commonly asked questions, answers like the one in this thread.

The buzzer goes off for Low oil, Low coolant and overrev.

You are probably low on oil or coolant

sobelik 06-20-05 10:29 AM

oh sorry i didnt know that this was a common problem, my bad. Its none of the three you said because i just recently changed my oil and did a coolent flush at the start of summer. So i guess its something else? Thanks tho

webmonk 06-20-05 11:45 AM

Need to make sure that the coolant was refilled correctly. There's a bleed screw near the top of the radiator that you need to open when filling it up to allow the system to really get full. Otherwise, the level sloshes around enough to set off the buzzer.

No, I would bet money that it is either low oil or bubbles in the coolant

And since Summer starts Tuesday, a year ago flush of the coolant is quite some time.

What does your dip stick read sicen you just changed the oil??? Coolant evap is also common.

The odds of it being electrical are about 10000 to 1

sobelik 06-20-05 04:02 PM

well summer for me is the start of may and thats when i did the flush. I just put in some oil, it wasnt down much at all..about a half quart hopefully that will solve the problem.
Btw it only happens when i hit a bump or make a left turn

prjct87rx7 06-20-05 04:58 PM

i had the same problem it was oil once and powersteering fluid once

leftshoo 06-20-05 04:59 PM

Is there a low fuel buzzer? I think I remeber my car doing that when I was below 1/4 a tank and making left turns. Im not sure though **shrug**

No, that would be a beep form the the power steering computer.

The beep should not be confused with the buzzer

if when the engine is cold, and you squeeze the top radiator line (the great big one going to the thermostat), do you hear sloshing, or any movement of air???

Syonyk 06-21-05 12:53 AM

Heck, with the engine COLD (don't do this with it hot, k?), pull the upper radiator cap off. There shouldn't be ANY - it should be full to the top with coolant.

With the car off but the ignition on, do you get the "ADD COOLANT" and "LOW OIL" (I think...) lamps illuminated on your warning light cluster? If not, the bulbs are burned out or the cluster is in need of resoldering. The buzzer should come with one of these lights if it's not the redline warning.

If you are losing coolant and it's not coming from anywhere obvious, check the firewall/engine block hose that connects under the oil filter, and check the lines under the throttle body. They're all usually old and in questionable shape.

There are no "ADD COOLANT" lights on the FC.

Syonyk 06-21-05 10:34 AM

There is an "ADD COOLANT" light. There's also an "OIL LEVEL" light. At least on my 88 SE...

//EDIT: Page 15-35 of the S4 FSM. Warning light cluster, showing the ADD COOLANT and OIL LEVEL lights.
