Redline Tranny fluid=any synthetic?

i went to napa looking for redline and couldnt find any and they said they had castrol synthetic...is this all the same? I want to see what redline does for my ailing tranny..........so whats the difference and where do i get redline

I prefer the Redline or Royal Purple, as most other Tranny/gear oils tend to become corrosive around 200F. In therory your tranny should not be getting that hot, but you just don't know unless you have a tranny temp gauge.

Summit carries Redline online.

I bought my Redline from summit. Expensive but worth it.

I seem to remember @7stock Racing Beat open house the Royal Purple rep said that if his product was not available he would use Redline over eveerything else w/ out a doubt.

I recall that he said snthetics could be broken down into 3 catagories. He put the Royal Purple in the highest catagory as it is purely synthesized, the Redline in the 2nd best since it is synthesized from Olefin and the Castrol syntec in the lowest catagory as it is a selective blend of synthetic and long chain base stock. Or something like that.

Anyone else have the real lowdown?

Just go to www.redlineoil.com or give them a call and they will tell you which stores near you will carry it. I had to drive about 20 min but i found a store and i bought 5 bottles(3 MT-90 Tranny fluid and 2 75W90 Gear oil) for 38 dollars.

Peruvianrx7 11-02-03 06:44 AM

if the 3 mt-90 go in the tranny does teh 2 bottles of 75wgear oil go where right under the shifter?

Huhh, I don't think so! Try the diff, but verify which weight goes where, because I don't recall offhand.
