Redline means...

Yeah i know what a redline is...but do most people actually know what is happeneing to the engine? I know what happens in a piston engine, but what about our wankels? Is it hard on the apex seal springs? suckin that seal back in before it hits the next wall? Or what? Could someone please shed a little light on this subject? Thanks

Evan

Your cluctch will explode @ 8500+.

Not much happening internally, at 8,000Rpms the rotary is hardly breaking a sweat cuz it goes at 2666RPMs (1/3 the flywheel speed). Your engine will NEVER see 3,000 RPMs this way so i doubt much INTERNAL damage is going on.

It's more the increase of FRICTION here. Plus oil usage is at a maximum and all the belts and shit are going really fast. Keep it up there too long and it'll overheat too. ;)

So, @ always being less than 3000 rpms, i doubt anything will break INTERNALLY. Just wear down, thus reducing engine life .

(BUt it is a good idea to take it up to redline every now and then to break up the carbon and keep the 6PI and VDI opening :D )

If your fuel system can't keep up with the demand at higher RPMs, you're fucked.

oh, yeah forsure. If i got a different fuel pump...woudl it always pump more fuel? or just be ready to pump more, harder at high rpms?
