Reconditoning S4 spoiler- Pictures-

Well my parts car has a spolier on it, but it was in pretty bad shape.

Both the center mounts are snaped and it has this white haze across it. Mother back to black or vinyl reconditoner do nothing.

I ended up asking my father who recommened a polishing compound. Heres the results. For the cracked connectors, a combination of jbweld to hold it and resin fixed it, for now.

To start with-

About half done with the compound-

Cleaned the underside, its pretty nice.

The end result-

Looks much better IMO.

If I only bolt this on using the 2 screws, and 4 bolts, and dont use the plastic tabs on the corners, is it sufficient?

Why did you use compound on that piece? It's a black rubber spoiler and the easiest way to "restore" it would be to repaint it. This entire process would take maybe 30 minutes w/ the spoiler off the car...

-Clean with mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol
-Scuff with a scotch brite pad, clean again and dry
-Paint with black flexible bumper spray paint. Flay/semi gloss, whatever you prefer. Flat looks more OEM.

Out of all 3......

Plus with the rest of the conditon of the car, it matches just fine.

All of those items would have cost $10.00

Nice job on the reconditioning. I need to redo my spoiler and tail's. Oh well, gotta get the girl running first.

I'm painting mine, with spray paint...haha dont worry it should turn out great. I'll take pics and update you on each step and some of you painting gurus can possibly help me out

Why would I repaint it? It would hardly match the rest of the origonal trim on the car.

If I wanted to, I would have grabed the can of vinyl dye I have and resprayed it black.

But it looks like the rest of the car does now, and fits in rather nicly.

Can you mention the super secret polishing compound?

Hahaha- its turtle wax polishing compound- nothing special- any fine cut cleaner or paste polishing compound will work fine.
