Rear Wiper Delete

I've been seeing pictures of FC's recently with a rear wiper delete and it has sort of inspired me. Just wondering about anyone on here if they've run into functionality issues. Or, if it is raining is it impossible to see out the back window?

(If you'd like to, feel free to drop a pic of it down below. Would love to see.)

My advice, next time it rains, drive the car, don't use the rear wiper and you'll know.

My car came with a wiperless hatch. It makes a difference, although I changed to a wiper hatch for unrelated reasons.

Unless you really want to lose the weight for some reason, I wouldn't delete it. The last thing you need is to get rear-ended and then wonder if you may have been able to react earlier if you had a functional wiper.

that's the only change i would make to this.

none of my Rx-7s ever had a rear wiper. the only rear wiper i had, i added myself (on my '83). even though i can't think of a time when rearward visibility was lacking (in heavy rain or blizzards) to the point where i got anxious, i still think it's better to keep it if you have one.

My '86 RX7 Sport (previous car) didn't have a rear wiper. My '90 GXL (current car) does have a rear wiper. I'd say, the advantages of a rear wiper are backing-up in the rain and clearing frost off the rear window on those cold frosty mornings. When I'm driving on the highway, the air stream usually clears the rain drops off the window.

You ask about "functionality issues". Not really sure what you're asking, but there is a small relay in the wiper switch that controls the rear wiper. There's been a time or two when that relay burned out causing the rear wiper not to work. I've never had a problem with the rear wiper motor, which is now over 33 years old.

Thank you all for the input. I think I'll try to fix it as opposed to deleting it. Thanks!

Thought I'd throw this out there to brag a little. I've never used the rear wiper as the car has never been
in the rain, and the washer fluid, unless it evaporated, is the same fluid when the car was delivered back
in May, '89. Also, the wiper blades, front/rear, are the same from when the car was delivered.:)

Dang man, that washer fluid is older than I am haha. Unfortunately, where I'm at in Pennsylvania it is hard to avoid the rain during the summer.
