rear strut brace intall on carpet

hey guys i bought a cusco tri point strut brace and i have a question. I want to keep the interior stock looking for the most part but the tri point brace bolts the the floor of the rear hatch and to the sides of the rear strut housing tubes should i cut a hole in the carpet and sides to mount the brace directly to the chassis or drill hole in the carpet and the mount the base of the brace on top of the carpet?:scratch::scratch::scratch:

Cut the carpet . If your not all rough and quick ( take your time ) it will come out clean . The carpet will compress after time and bolts will loosen I feel

that's what I was thinking the carpet in my FC is super mint its so i was TORN between what to do either way I have to put a hole in it.

I don't know much about coupes, but is there any jute underneath? If so you can cut a flap (3 sides of a square) install it, and push the flap back down. If you are super ninja, you can slice a half moon and be even cleaner but it makes it hard to make a hole.

The carpet has a 1/8" or so plastic backing. The carpet is bonded to the backing.

I had luck cutting it with a hole saw from inside the hatch. Super clean cut.

I just made sure the hole saw was very close to the size of my (cusco) tube, and I was very careful lining up the hole with where I expected the tube to pass through. The grommet I used was a 40mm grommet from Amazon, but I did not need it for it to look "finished" because the hole size was extremely close.

That's very nicely done, Mr. Shark.

Nice work.
Some rear strut bars are oval though and get a little funky to install.

OP:If your car is "super mint" then you would also have a choice of not installing it.If you do,I'd look for some replacement pieces if you want to go back to stock or want to sell the strut bar later.
No sense in devaluing the car.

I like the rubber ring you added to the carpet
