Rear speaker covers
 

does any one know of any aftermarket rear speaker covers? Because ive looked on mazdatrix and have not had any luck finding them. anywhere else? has anyone on the forum custom made their own?

you can probably make a fiberglass housing and have the speaker on top with a speaker grill. Other than that i don't know.

i have 2 infinity 6 1/2" speakers in the back i have to custom make a bracket to fit over the stock holes for the screws.... then i had to cut lil holes for the tweeters... unless u get separates (which are tweeters separate from the speaker( u almost always have to cut hole in it.. i did mine with jig saw and then grinded mine down with an air grinder or u could use a dremel. but thats how i did mine and it works perfect

I think he's talking about the plastic interior that covers the whole speaker assembly. Am I right? Is yours (13bchris) broken or something?

well, i bought my gxl gutted so i didnt even have them. my 89 has them but they are abused and they previous owner i guess didnt want to screw them back on and glued it so they are not easily salvagable. has anyone refurbished theirs because theirs were all cracked and chipped. i know their would probably be a noticable differance in the texture but has anyone tried this before?

i ordered rockford fosgate p162's the otherday. i used the $50 off coupon from the orange county auto show :)
i just dont want to leave them exposed to the sunlight and risk tempting some jerk to break in and try to steal them.

Depending how bad they are when you get them out you might be able to save them... Mabie with like fiberglass body filler? Who knows I haven't tried it on speaker covers. I made fiberglass speaker boxes before. I fiberglassed a computer case that was plastic and it held up. Hope that helps. Mabie look on ebay or a junkyard?

yeah ill try the fiberglass sometime soon, its in my garage like everything else- except my 7 haha. thanks for the advice
