Rear seat installation

I installed rear seats in my s5 but I think the seats were out of an s4? I'm not sure if it matters. The problem I'm having is I have like a 3 inch gap on each side of the top half of the seat and the b pillars. Also im not exactly sure what the little round rods that come out of the bottom of the top half go into or what the tabs on the back of the bottom piece go into? Right now the only thing holding in the top half are the anchors on the speaker towers and it seems kinda flimsy. Can anyone shed some light?

i have a 88 gxl 2+2 and i got my trans from a 91, while i was on the inside i did notice that the interior like the front seats were actually mounted different than mine so it is possible that the seats in the back arent a simple drop in procedure, i'll check tomorrow to make sure but the metal bars in the front of the back seats fit in notches i have in my floor, maybe a non 2+2 car doesnt have this cut out. I can't fit my little sisters butt cheek(not two butt cheeks just one cheek!) in that thing and i tried it out once and i'm 5"11' and my head kept hitting the top of the hatch

Yeah I tested it on myself I'm 5'10 an there's no way I can fit comfortably

The back seats are a direct swap with the storage bins, you just have to have all the hardware. I can take pics of mine if you like....then you can compare.

The s5's had those automatic seatbelts, so the interior panels on the b-pillars are a lot thicker as a result. I know this because I have an s4 with s5 b-pillars, and trust me, they're bigger.

This is probably why you have a gap.

If you could take a pic of the bottom of the top half while its folded down it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I'm using s4 seats and my car being an s5 has automatic seatbelts, if I had a clearance issue with them being bigger, wouldn't it be a tight fit?

Here's pics if mine. It's all S4.

Hope that helps.

huh, I replaced the bins in my s4 with s4 rear seats, but the rear I have came with lap belts, not shoulder belts. a lot cleaner looking if you ask me. didn't even know they had shoulder belts for back there.lol.

the back part of mine just pivot on 2 hinges bolted to the bottom. then my bottom part slides down in and up to catch on latches on the top part. blk87's pics of the top section look a little different. I'm pretty sure my top section covers the whole bottom part when folded down. it looks like his has some of the bottom part coming up on the side. I can't really recall though as my interior has been stripped for some time now for work. Looks to me like the design for the shoulder belts had different b pillars, and maybe even speaker tower covers though. My lap belt version sits nice and flush all around and with the seat down, You can't tell there is even a seat folded cause the top sits flush over the bottom all around (once again, if memory serves). you may need the b pillars and speaker carpet for yours to sit right, or a lap belt version I'm guessing.

do you not like your friends or something? gonna make them sit in the iron maiden torture device that is the fc rear seat? i hope your friends are either 3 foot tall or missing their lower half. haha. seriously though its not worth it. thats why the only way some one can sit in my rear seat is if they climb up into my garage roof frame.

I got mine in case I felt like taking my kid around town in the future. 2 1/2, she can fit back there for a little while :)

i think i'm missing the part that the bottom of the top piece latches on to.

Can someone help me figure out where the U clips on the bottom portion of the seat slide into? I can't find a slot and I feel they should slide into the seat back where the slope turns to horizontal. Possibly cut a slot ? But everyone seems to say they are bolt in so it makes me think I am missing something. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...519c978283.jpg
