Rear Hatch Drain Clogged, Solutions?
This sounds really dumb askin this question....how to unplug it? Well if you've had this problem lemme know...and whats a good way to drain it? i have already stuck screw drivers down blasted water..almost ruined speakers....hehe...but yeah.any ideas?

please

try some draino? It might eat paint, so maybe that's not a good idea, but it might work, you never know!
|
i just got 'ol rex painted as well! but it'll be worth it....cause it clogs up and pours over the side...so i have all this shit on the side of the car in the morn!

wire coat hanger? works for me all the time
|
I just used a screwdriver
Beware, on mine the green goo that came out the bottom was quite sickening :) |
if you pull the carpet back, there is a clear tube that runs straight down from the hole, im pretty sure u can remove it and replace or clean it out.
|
Yeah, what FoXX said.
Pull the carpet back, remove the plastic tubes, and clean them out with a coat hanger or something. Works like a charm. Then when you're done just put 'em back in. Viola, no more water puddles on your car. :) |
Don't remove anything...... simply get a coat hanger and fish it down from the top, through the tube and all the way down to the bottom...... give it a few rotations to clean out everything, and you're done. Works like a charm for me.

Mine was unclogged with compressed air. Probably any place with pnumatic (sp?) tools will be able to do this for you.
|
Straighten a coat hanger and stuff it throught the tube carefully. Then use a water hose to flush it out.

don't use compressed air, you might just blow the tube right off it's connection. I just stick some spare speaker wire down there untill you can see it hanging under the bumber.

Try a gun cleaning rod with a nylon brush on the end.
|
I used the glue stick that for hot glue gun. 10 cent a piece, just buy 2 (long one, about 10-12"), the radious fits perfect, just stick one in, push it all the way, and use the second one to push the first one. As the second one goes half way, the first glue stick should stick out from the buttom of the tube. Works great!
now the question, how do you unclog the sunroof drainage tube? I used draino last night, worked, but not very clean as water drain slowly compare to the other side. I might need to use a lot of water to flash it out or something, oh well. any better ideas? |
How can I tell if my gas tank filler tube needs to be cleaned? It's very dark inside of it. I know! I'll use a lighter to see down it. :D

But if a screw is in there going down is not the way. Why not just crawl under the car and find the point where the tube comes out and go up with a hanger or compressed air?

Check to make sure it isnt kinked. I had a problem with one of my hatch drains not draining. I pulled back the carpet, and it was kinked. The biggest bitch was putting it back in the hole through the floor! Check this out quick, cause if you dont water might build up in the panels.

I used a piece of #10 wire with a loop bent in the end. The plastic insulation keeps it from scratching. Cleaned it right out.
|
i just replaced those drain tubes, it seems that somebody used a hanger and put a hole in the tube.:(
