Rear and front wings?
I'm trying to get under 10 sec. with my 86. Will front and rear wings help, or hurt.
What's the best wing for performance, I'm not worried about apperance to much. Apearanc dosn't win races! |
hurt in a 1/4 mile u need traction on the launch, and the wing does you no good.
by the time ur wing is functional u'll loose speed due to drag. keep it off. |
You'll need at least 400HP to get below 10seconds. That requires a VERY LARGE turbo, full fuel system upgrades, aftermarket computer, Turbo II drivetrain, Turbo II engine, etc... etc...
Your best bet is to buy a heavily modified Turbo II to start with and then upgrade from there. |
a 86 ... i assume it has a n/a motor has no way to hit 10 sec
a 3 rotor n/a motor with big ass port might have a chance u turbo the car might help wing ? no |
I found a stage 3 turbo, I want to put on and an iintercooler. I already installed a walboro pump, and in the process of buying an HK6. That will help. If I put a lip wing on the front, will that slow me down to much. I like the look.
|
Just out of curiousity, what are you running on the 1/4 mile now?
|
If you don't performance out of it don't get it. Other than that keep the outide tastefull and you won't get made fun off for being a ricer.
Show us a pic of the lip you want to put on. I am sure it is one of the many out there for our cars. Those probably don't hurt performance a lot. BTW your seriously in need of help if you want to get 10's out of an N/a FC. Turbo'ing it will probably end up blowing the engine from improper tunning and upgrading or lack there of. Santiago PS- For an N/a I think 13's are a goal 10's are insane unless you have a 20B or 26B and that would cost a lot of green. |
And strip the weight way down.
We're talking tube chassis, cage & skin only. |
I haven't run the 1/4 yet. The fuel pump I put in is giving to much gas. I was shooting flames out of the pipe the other night.
|
I'm waiting till I get the E6X put in.
|
you will not hit 10 seconds with an NA 13b. You simply cannot make that much power with that engine. Even if you're stripped to the bare bones and the engine is pulling every ouce of power out of it possible. If you get a 13bt however, 10's are very possible. Hard, but possible.
|
I want to find a 13bT in a junk yard or something, put it on a stand, and work on it till it shines like the sun. I'll get it ported and polished too.
|
Or would it be cheaper and easier to buy one that's rebuilt and ported already. Money is pretty tight so...

Sorry to say, but you sound too off the wall to be serious.
Money is tight?.....What wings do I need?.....come on man, I don't have time for this. |
wow....relax a little bit fstrnyou. If you don't have time then don't post :-)

Come on wings for speed? wings are for stability. God knows most of the typp RRR bodikit mad companies don't design their shit for anything good anyhow. If you know the air flow of the FC you will know that the rear of the car has a high pressure zone that acts to push down on the car at speed. The stock wings are more than adequate to do the job since they actually work. and adding a mad tight type R wing to joo mad kuik rice box isn't going to make it break 10's. Specially an N/a |
OH OH OHOHHHH!!! you need one of these wings!!!!

Originally posted by Nick86 To be honest - if money is tight, then you won't see 10 second passes! The old saying is "Speed costs money - how fast do you want to go?" If you have mechanical ability, then buy a 13BT from a scrap yard/ J-Spec, and port and rebuild it yourself. But if money is tight, then an rx7 in general is not the car for you. |

Specially an N/a As for fdannels, good luck reaching the 10s mark, its an expensive endeavor with an NA. Pat |
Just drop a 250 shot into the car, put the tank in the trunk and a little red button on the steering wheel - that should get you about 9.75 or so.
|
I realize 10 sces is an outlandish goal but worth striveing for. Oh yea, and money is tight right now, but it won't always be.
|
lol.. you guys crack me up.
"im gonna run below 10's! Do i need a wing for that?" hehe.. a heard a glow kit works wonders for your trap speed! ;) |
you know--not to be rude but you will not reach 10 sec. runs....and there is only one reason--YOU
You have a stock NA, and you put in a Walbro??? Can I possibly ask WHY? haven't you EVER heard of the FLOODING problems we have?? So, somewhere along the way you thought that more fuel=more power, and you couldnt have been more wrong. An intake and exhaust is not anywhere close to enough to require that pump. In other words, RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BLOW ALL YOUR CASH. You have one of the best resources anywherein this forum and you can search in here and find anything....but if you are just gonna throw $$$ at the car without knowing what the hell youre doing, you will be nothing but broke and disappointed in the end. I would bet my ass that your car needs some basic stuff first, before you even start with mods....how's your suspension?? Replaced it lately? What about your bushings? Alignment? Tune-up? All fluids changed? brakes? the only way that a car should be modded is if it is FIRST properly maintained to start with. Go spend your cash on making it function exactly like it should, and then look at mods. Of course, you could swap your old stock struts for higher performance ones, etc, but I would bet that your car needs the same kind of things that all of ours do.... |
