Rear Difuser
 

You know I was on Amemiya's sight and it looks like they now have a rear difuser for the FC3S. I don't remember ever seeing this. What do you guys think?

Seriously folks, you can drool all you want over most of the Japan parts, but how many of you can afford the ridiculous prices and shipping to bring it into the states???

Dollars aside, is there someone in the States that imports this stuff? Some of their items are pretty interesting.

You know what Ted I for one appreciate the things that you bring to the forum but I would never expect a comment like that from you. The beutiful thing about that diffuser is that there is someone out there that feels there is still a market for the 2nd gen. It's comments like those that make big time tuners in the states not take 2nd gen owners seriously. Try pulling up to Pettit with a 2nd gen and you will be treated like a 2nd class citizen until you lay some cash on the table. Lets face it the 2nd gen is not getting any newer and to see someone build something like that just infuses a little excitement into the communtiy. I'm sick and tired of seeing 2nd gens rigged, riced and going no where fast. If you build something worth having I'll spend my money on it. Hey Chuck at Rotaryextreme came up with a good idea for the 2nd gen and 15 people put there money up to put this thing together. Sorry but that comment just struck me in a bad way.

This is why I said what I said.
The majority of that stuff is made out of FRP - basically fiberglass.
You should go and read how to lay fiberglass - it's not very hard to do.
For something costing several hundred dollars worth of FRP, I'd rather do it myself.

As for shipping, these things are "huge dimensional weightwise".&nbsp You're paying just for the bulk of it, and most likely it'll get damaged.&nbsp Thus the high price...

Now, the majority of FC owners CANNOT AFFORD THESE THINGS.&nbsp Yes, I do realize there is a few that can and are willing to do so.&nbsp These people should be smart enough to disregard my comments.&nbsp Money can just about tackle any problem...

Now, I'm tired of all the people who have said "I found this pic of a body kit...I want it!" comments and eventually found out it costs several THOUSAND dollars to purchase in ship to their doors.&nbsp You think a typical FC owner can handle all of that?&nbsp Add to that, at least another couple grand to mold, adhere, paint the whole thing on, and you're talking about FRP, body work, and paint that is going to cost around $10,000!&nbsp I dunno about you, but even *I* don't have that kind of cash.

Most people don't realize these parts cost a lot of money, time, and effort from start to finish...that's my point.

Now, before you go asking me to make parts, body pieces is one of the least things I want to put on my car.&nbsp They usually add weight and do nothing for performance.&nbsp About the only thing I'm interested to make is a C-West FC3S replica that I had pics up on the old K2RD site a few months ago.

I say let the enthusiasm roar...if in posting something like this is creates a market for it then it's better for the 2nd gen and it's fans. Heck...how many body kits in the US have been built for the 2nd gen that are worth looking at? Who's developing electronics in the US worth using? Some of the best stuff made for our cars is made in Japan. If you see something worth building ala the C-West kit or the border front end that Corksports puts out or the Mazdaspeed conversion that Rotary Extreme carries then that's more for all of us. So the question goes what do you guys with second gens think about the rear difuser? I have yet to see one on a 2nd gen so I am not sure. I can say that orange 3rd gen that was on the cover of Turbo looked awesome along with that difuser.

Haha! You don't know Ted very well do you :D

The idea of a rear diffuser is awesome! Pure race technology applied to the street. In function though, I doubt very much that some piece of fiberglass bolted to a chassis never intended to produce the necessary aerodynamics for a diffuser would have much affect.

Before I would think about spending $750 I would want to see some wind tunnel testing that shows it working. Unless it does work, which I doubt, than it's just a piece for pure bling-factor.

I think I'm getting too frustrated in here...I need a job. :)

I wish someone would start making replicas of these body pieces. I wouldn't mind that much knowing its not really an R-Magic wing or a Amemiya diffuser, as long as nobody else knows its not the real thing :)
