rear diff stud mount replace

Stripped top stud on the diff that is used to mount the rubber mount.
Can that stud be removed?
How would you do that?
What replacement stud would I need?

Sorry this is for the FRONT Diff mount. not the rear 2 mounts. those are good.

Ah, I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I can answer some of this:

1. You can remove (and install) studs by using two nuts. Thread one on, then the next. Tighten them down against one another, then loosen by turning the inner one.

Your threads are damaged, so if they are beyond any hope of threading on then use visegrips, after using heat and penetrating oil.

2. I measured on my spare diff; the threads on the stud are M12x1.5. I don't know where studs can be purchased. There is an un-threaded section in the center, and threads on either side. I can't remove mine as I don't have any appropriate nuts, so I'm not sure how long it extends into the differential.

There is another solution: Remove the stud and replace it with a M12x1.5 cap bolt that is long enough to match the length of the stud.

Either way, make sure you get grade 8 hardware. Good luck :)

For some reason, these studs are not listed in the RX7 parts listing. At least, I couldn't find anything. You could probably find similar studs at either Bel-Metric or McMaster-Carr.

A stud removal often works best for removing hard to remove studs. https://www.tooldiscounter.com/produ...AaAgFPEALw_wcB

If the studs aren't too tight, than you can try the double nut method as indicated in a previous post but that method will sometimes break the stud if it's frozen.

I got the stud removed.
Using this and an impact gun it came right out.
I also used this same tool to remove a stuck fill plug on the transmission.

The differential mount studs are 1.5 thread M12 that are 1.4 " in length
I got these and they worked great.

I found the factory part but they are NLA
