Rear Coilover Installation Questions

Hey everyone,

I am in the process of installing some coilovers. The rear came with a small round spacer for the lower mount on the shock body. Any of you guys who run or have installed coilovers know whether these are used, and if so which direction should they face (towards inside or outside)?

I took a look at the stock shocks, I could not see a visible difference. It is only one spacer per coil-over.

Also, the upper mount on the rear. The coilovers come with the metal upper mount like so (the pair on the right):

I noticed that the rear O.E. upper mounts had a "better seal" on the rear upper hole for the shocks on the chassis with the rubber bushings they had. These coilovers seem to just sit flush but not have that nice "seal" around the hole on the chassis. Is this typical for coil-overs and are they installed just like this, without any rubber "seal"?

Thanks for the help.....

Sure:

As you can see, its just a round spacer. The lower shock mount has the regular bushing already in there and it is symmetrical, seems like this is used to space it out. I don't have the subframe on the car so I can't see if it's to move the shock body from a component to prevent rubbing or not, so I thought I might ask you guys who have installed coilovers before....

Thanks for the information. I will do that when I get the subframe back on.

How about the issue with the top mount. Is it normal for coilovers to be installed without any type of rubber seal around the top mount like the O.E. ones, basically the top mount being bolted up to the chassis bare like it is in the picture on the link?

the spacer is to space the lower mount away from the knuckle, i have the original megan coilovers that didnt come with those and mine would make full contact with the knuckle wothout them

Ahh, thats exactly what I have then. Thanks for that information. By the way, did you install the rear and front coilovers just as they came, with no rubber type seal between the chassis and top strut mount?
