Rear Bumper Cover - S4 and S5... Interchangeable?

I have a 1990 GTU. I need another rear bumper cover because of a slight mishap with a low brick wall.

Do the 1986-88 and the 89-91 rear bumper covers interchange?

Thanks for the help.

They will yes.

But the molding will be different on the 86-88 from the 89-91.

Thank you for that info.

Now... One more question. Is the belt-line molding actually a different shape, style etc? Or, is it just that it is not painted black like the S4 cars are.

If the S4 molding is a different shape, is it close enough to pass on the rear bumper of an S5 - or would it be a major clash?

I painted the simulated belt-line molding on my 1990 because I actually like it better - and it does visually take a persons eyes off of the "10 foot" paint job on the rest of my car.

Thanks for any mo info youse guys have on this...

Cheers,

It's not just the color. S4 & S5 moldings are different shape. S5s have the groove at the bottom of the molding, while S4s have it centered. S5s seem to stick out less too.

Thanks to both of you guys... I started looking very carefully at some of the bigger pics that have been posted and now I can see the difference.

Final question... The convertible S5 rear bumper covers look like they are the same part as the coup uses. Is this correct?

Thank You Again

verts are the same bumpers as well.

Thanks to all three of you that have chimed in to help me on this...

Now, I know exactly what I need to look for !

I've said it before and I'll say it again - If it wasn't for all the information we can find out on RX7club forums, I'd have never finished my car.
