rear alum wing?

do they really do anything? People tell me they direct the air up so the car is being pushed downward keeping itself glued to the ground. I just did a bit of research and one site says that it can put upto 5000 lbs of pressure on the rear wheels. Sounds like its a good traction upgrade but seems like whoever has wings is accused of being a "ricer".

Well heres the deal............

If you find a company that makes and aluminum wing that has been wind tunnel tested to find the exact hight and angle at which down force is needed, then that would be as Martha Stewart says "A good thing". :D However most of the companies on the market, such as APC, Ractive, really only offer these wings for style. Most of the wings are produced with a cheaper grade of metal making them flimsy at higher speeds. Therefore if you want the benefit of an aluminum or carbon fibre wing, you better off going to a company that specifically makes them for the FC. Just the angle of the wing itself can work for you or against you, cause too much down force will slow you down...........
