re-wiring WHOLE engine bay?
as well as doing microtech, i was heavily considering re-wiring and simplifying the headlights,blinkers,wipers,heater core, Fuse Box and so on...
i would wire all the functions to metal toggle switches located around the interior of the car... i love having a simple and clean engine bay thats half of the reason i want to attempt to do this... have any of you guys done this? how hard was it? cheers,Dan. :ky: |
A toggle switch for each function? Headlights, Brights, Blinkers, Horn, and so on. Hmmmmm. Most people that do this eliminate half of that stuff. Of course there not daily drivers but for the track. All they need is Lights, and maybe a horn. It could get messy. Keep us updated.

If you plan on doing this, I would at least start with a generic wiring kit from Painles, Ron Francis or something similiar

I went through the factory harness and removed all the wires I deemed un necessary.... popups, AC, PS etc. The harness was about 1/2 the size, and I had no unnecessary wires. It was cool, and not that bad. Just took some time. Kinda like what you're talking about. I went all the way back to the fuse block and pulled the pins, not just cut the wires.
I highly recomend planning a solid day to sit down and try to do it start to finish. It's easy to lose track of misc wires etc in a huge bundle if you walk away from it for a few days. Good luck. -Chris |
i also thought about doing it but using thicker wire then stock, If you do go through with it just take your time and while your at it you might as well add grounds.

goddamit i was gunna add grounds yesterday! i installed some coil overs on my freinds car...and threw on some tires....goddamit.....maybe ill do the grounds AND the TB mod and wastegate porting as well as clean up the harness....i should i mark where the old connectors USED to be? just in case? with various colored tape?

not that hard just get some masking tape and start counting. |

-Chris wow. sounds like u did it the right way :ky: the main reason i wanted to do it was to get rid of a lot of the little boxes and fuses in the engine bay.... but what really is the drivers side harnes controlling? headlights,blinkers,horns,....? |
