RE: drivetrain troubles...help
recently did 91 Turbo II conversion to my 88 N/A car...when i pulled motor and tranny out of donar car everything worked perfectly, put it all back together and put it in my car and transmission would not engauge into any gears. Bled the slave 15-20 times until it had full pressure..called RP Performace in Manassas, and they told me i either put the clutch disc in backwards "which it wasnt" or the pilot bearing is bad. i dont understand how when i pulled it out i could drive the donar car and now something is wrong? Any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks, -Ryan Clutch setup is a SR Motorsports 9.5 lb flywheel and an ACT clutch with automatic counter weight. |
Did you leave the motor bolted to the tranny? (sounds like you didn't) With the engine off - can you put the car in gear? Is the clutch fork being moved far enough to disengage the clutch? (my slave cylinder had some spacers to extend the pushrod is why I ask) Are you able to watch the clutch fork move?
I've never seen a pilot bearing stop a clutch from working, but then again I've never done clutch work on a rx7. ~rich |

Well, they look like washers to me! I didn't put them in there - I believe they went on the slave side of the pushrod. I'll check in the morning.
Are you sure you installed the throwout bearing correctly OR did the fork not get installed on the pivot ball? Mebbe the pivot ball is broken. here: http://fc3spro.com/TECH/PROBLEMS/DT/.../FORK/fork.htm ~rich |
