RB header question

ok, i just bought the Racing Beat header and the instructions say that i need to remove the air pump and block it off. do i really have to? i live in california so i need to keep it smog legal most of the time plus its NA and i use the air pump to activate my 6 ports. can i leave the air pump on there?

that header is not smog legal in CA even with the air pump

yeah, definitly not... you need to get a block off plate (but that is a give me).

Also and if you are planning on keeping the cats on there, that is just a waste, you might as well just get the presilencer too, because I think even with the cats still on you will not pass. I live in california too, and what you will have to end up doing is just putting all your emission stuff right back on before you smog it.

No..you do not need to block off your ACV with the header. They are assuming that you are running the header and presilencer, at which point you do not need the air pump to pump air to the cat. Ive had an RB header on both my '86 and my current '90 N/A, and still running airpump and all emissions equipment.

Well it wouldn't pass emissions though in california would it with the header?

no i pretty sure it wont pass emisions, but i would still like to be semi legal by keeping the main cat. plus if i dont pass emisions with the header, than i will just throw the other cats and minfold back on

Im not sure, but he didnt ask if it would pass emissions, he just asked if he needed to block off the ACV, which he doesnt. It should pass emissions tests fine, but Im sure it would fail a visual, being you no longer have the 2 precats in place.

i run mine w/o the ACV with a bonez cat and the 6 ports still work, you'll have to swap it back every 2 years , no biggie
