Dude, it's the radiator cap! How are you running without one?

NOOOOOO, the hose connector belongs below the radiator cap and i dont have it. I looked in my haynes and it shows it under the radiator cap but above the thermostat. it is simply not on my car.

There are two variations on the S4 cooling system. One has the pressure relief cap and hose on the radiator and a plain cap with no hose on the filler neck (thermostat housing); the other has the pressure relief cap and hose on the filler neck and a plain cap with no hose on the radiator. You must have a pressure relief cap and hose connected to the overflow bottle at one of these locations (it doesn't matter which).
If you have no hose then the nipple must have snapped off and will need to replaced. It should be pretty obvious by looking which of the two locations used to have the hose on it. This is important, as without it you will constantly be loosing coolant as it heats up and expands and sucking in air as it cools and contracts. |
