Radiator and hoses not heating up or getting pressure

What gives? Waited for the car to warm up half way .. and nothing.

I did just install new hoses and a brand new Koyo, but I don't think thats going to prevent a car from running for 10 minutes from having the coolant heat up ... or even pressurizing the system?

What should I check? The last thing left to replace is a water pump, and I really don't think thats the case here, atleast I'm hoping not.

Thoughts?

Did you just let it idle? Did you bleed the coolant properly? Go take it for a drive and see if it comes up to temp.

Check the temp in the vehicle. If it shows normal, yet your radiator, hoses are cold, there is more than likely air around the thermostat not allowing it to open. Also, check to see if you heater blows cold or not.

You could very well be overheating your engine and don't realize it.

+1!

Yeah if the thermostat isn't opening you won't feel pressure or heat in the radiator hose. Check the heater hose from the block to see if its warm. With the thermostat 100% closed the car can idle for a while before it starts to overheat.

And your low coolant buzzer never went off? I'd search and found out if your low coolant sensor still works.......

hurleysurf24 12-24-09 10:35 PM

i dont even think there is one on the car to be honest lol. there some weird shenanigans going on in my car lol.

FelixIsGod29X 12-25-09 10:02 AM

Opps i forgot you put in a aftermarket rad. You should take the sensor off your stock rad(located on top of the rad) And find a way to put it into the top of your new rad. That low coolant sensor has been VERY handy for me!

low coolant low oil idiot lights have saved me multiple times, do NOT eliminate them

hurleysurf24 12-25-09 11:08 AM

didnt eliminate it, but my car never had them when i got it. not even sure the connector is still there for it. the only thing i had on top of the old radiator was a breather plug lol.

hmm back to the scratching post.
