Racing Beat Torque Brace, Tight Fit?
For all of you with the RB torque brace, is it a tight fit?
I've test fit mine and there appears to be an interferance problem with a clutch master cylinder line as well as the clutch slave cylinder.... My car is a S5 Turbo II with A/C and P/S thanks, Hakan |
there is photos with a write up on www.fc3s.org
|
That's a good write-up on fc3s.org, but I beleive its for an N/A. Anyone with a T2 had problems fitting the brace?
|
I put one on a 86 n/a converted to s4 turbo II. Very tight fit but just barely cleared eveything.
|
I've had one on the shelf for over a year and just went out to test fit the thing. I have a 91 Vert (N/A) and there is no way it will clear the clutch valve. I called RB and they said to send back for a refund. Seems S5s (Verts inparticular) have a fitment issue. I hate to part with the green, but I guess my only option is Mazdatrix.
|
Can someone explain exactly what the brace does? And is it worth the money?
|
If youd like to sell that torque brace instead of sending it back, I may take it off your hands. PM me if you want.

Based on prior experience with Racing Beat's product, I think it will fit... Their quality and service is second to none. Unlike too many off our aftermarket suppliers :p: |
Originally posted by Hamza734 You might want to try fitting the brace again. I've spoken with Racing Beat and they said the fit should be very tight, but usable. I think once the bell housing bolts are removed the brace will just barely fit. If your having trouble with the threaded rod try putting it above the thick AC hose, but under the hoses bracket... Verts can be a real pain, but still, got to love em! |
Actually for a vert the Mazdatrix brace would probable be better, especially that triangulated 3-way brace. All convertibles suffer from poor rigidity and the Mazdatrix piece will probably make a world of difference... pretty damn pricy though.

If I am not mistaken the mazdatrix brace is fairly similar to the CP racing brace that is sold on ebay. I believe he is also on the forum and for the price they offer it cant be beat.
