Racing beat road race system
 
Considering this system for my 88 vert - seems to be highly recommended in this forum.

A few questions for any of you that have it:

1. What is the potential HP gain for an N/A FC?
2. I couldn't find the measurements for the mufflers on this system...anyone know?
3. Sound produced? Is this a fairly hearty sounding system? The description is a bit vague, but seems to indicate that it is rather white.


Everyone's input is much appreciated I'm informing my decision. If any of you feel there is a alternative system (comparable price) that is better, please let me know.

Consider a REV II system for Turbo.
The reason is that it will be a factor IF you want to go Turbo..OR want to V8 it..which I am sure is still in your vocabulary.

Very good point. I still do want to go turbo, provided I can find everything I need. V8 is a no go after everyone here has educated me. If I were going to spend that kind of money I would just assume by an additional vehicle to play with lol...perhaps an older Corvette.

I have the system on my s5 na, and I can answer a few of your questions.

1. Potential HP gain?
It's not really noticeable on a stock car (mine is streetported). I went from the factory exhaust with gutted cats to the road race system and I really didn't notice much increase, maybe 5-10 if I'm being generous. Without any concrete evidence to back up my claims, I'd say the power and torque curves moved up in the rpm range, but not by much. Any gain on a stock car might be canceled out by the weight of the thing, it is a very heavy system.

2. Muffler measurements?
According to RacingBeat's website, the headers are 2" so I would assume the mufflers are no smaller. I can measure mine tomorrow if you need more measurements.

3. Sound produced?
It is louder than stock, but not by much. It is a very smooth un-rotary like sound, not harsh at all. I really like the sound, but if you want more of a raspy racy sounding system I'd leave the center presilencer out and replace it with a couple straight pipes or a crossover pipe. I am planning to do that to my presilencer in the near future.

Just a few other thoughts on the system.
If you can, buy it used. These are pretty decently priced when they come up for sale. They are well made and last a long time, but I think they are overpriced for what they are new. $1300 will buy some good parts (and maybe even a turbo engine) that will give a better hp gain than this system alone. Either wait and get the turbo exhaust when and if you want to do a turbo swap, or just go to a exhaust shop and have them weld up a system with stainless steel packing in the mufflers.

Thanks...this is super helpful.

Yea I agree that the racing beat system seems a bit pricy. Hopefully I can get this turbo swap done relatively soon and decide on exhaust from there.
