Is this Racing Beat Exhaust good?

Hi from New Zealand!

I have a noisy 89 TII, with a 3" turbo back. I think it is a custom made exhaust. The only things I have to keep the noise down, are a small RB silencer, and a custom muffler. It is TOO noisy! I can't listen to music in my car, as it is drowned by the constant drone of my exhaust.

Here is a link to a Racing Beat Exhaust for the TII selling 2nd hand in NZ(new zealand)

RX7 S4 RACING BEAT EXHAUST

This looks to be the same as the one on the RB website for the TII (well, without the dump pipe anyway) but I thought the presilencer and mufflers were meant to be made out of 304 Stainless steel? only the flanges and y-pipe and some others should be mild steel and show a bit of rust? Does this look in bad condition? or how do I tell?

This should be considerably quieter than my current exhaust. And I've heard everyone say how RB exhausts are so good. Here in NZ, we don't have the opportunity to purchase RB products so easily...

It's going for NZ$300 which is about US$200 (i'm guessing?).

The auction is going to end this weekend (sunday). I have no idea what to do! Maybe i should just stop bitching about my exhaust and live with it! What do you guys think?

Sorry about all the questions...
Ryan

The RB system in the picture should be as quiet as you can get without loosing power.

If you want it still quieter, have a shop install your old pre-silencer just in front of that one.

If your suspension bushings are old you will soon be hearing them.

Just go have a resonator welded into the exhaust you already have.

Racing Beat is THE BEST. The only way i could think of it being better is if they used Titanium throughout or inconnel type shit, both $$$$$$$$$ Their SS and coated stuff is great!

Thanks guys,

Do I need to worry about that "surface rust" that's shown in the pictures? A rotary mechanic I know says this exhaust might restrict my engine a bit if my engine is modified more.

What are the pro's and con's of installing an extra resonator in my current exhaust?

Are these RB exhausts light? The piping on my exhaust is about 3mm thick, pretty heavy.
Is there anything I can do to check the condition of the exhaust?

eek, so many questions! sorry fellas...

Bought an 87 Tll last Fall that had a RB exhaust already on it.

Its NOT loud...you'll have no problem with your stereo.

From what I've read, its the best compromise between good performance and reasonable sound, assuming you don't think really high decibels is a good thing. BUT...I'm told its a little on the heavy side. I don't think I'll be changing mine soon.

in two words..... THE BEST!

Pros and cons of installing a resonator?

Uhh... pros are it's quieter and usually more cost effective than a whole new exhaust setup....

Cons would be.... depending on what kind you get it might restrict flow a little bit... uhh... what else.... If you don't like single exhaust then it might annoy you?

Not really a lot of negatives there.

Hey I Just Put The Rb Exhaust On My 87 Tii That Had A Stock Exhaust.

It Blew The Old One Away And I Still Listen To The Stock Stereo Just Fine.

I thought I read on the RB website that they no longer offer the stainless chromed exhausts anymore, and it will ship without any coating or some shit.

For 300$ its worth it, especially if its just surface rust. This is to be expected from a used exhaust system, its always exposed to the elements.

their 3" exhaust is SS but the N/a stuff is chromed mild IIRC.
