quick stereo question
I have a 1991 TurboII with no factory stereo. And now I have installed a new headunit and no sound from the door woofers..
Is my car equipped with a door woofer amp? note. I also don't have a electric antenna.. |
Yep, there is a door amp and the antenna is wired different than most cars.
In the FAQ for FC Sticky thread at the top of this 2nd gen section you will find the stereo wiring and how to wire a relay for the antenna (as well as many other usefull questions and answers). |
Darn, gotta be outside the U.S. :P
You have very good English; you got me fooled. -Ted |
Do a search, all of your questions have been covered before on this website MANY MANY times and ALL you need to do is SEARCH for this.
The car has factor external amps and you need to "plug the wiring harness cables together" at the OEM external amplifier to bypass that amp and power the speakers. If your car has 3 sets of speakers and only 2 sets of outputs on the radio, you'll need to use an aftermarket external amp or figure out how to re-use the OEM amp. |
At least on my '91 NA, the door speaker amp was mounted under the dash around the steering column somewhere. It's a silver box about 5x5x1" or so.

I don't have a electric antenna.. because.. there is no motor mounted to it.. checked that...
I did search.. and all the results where from people having problem with replacing their stock radio.. and mine didn't have one.. and I also searched in my car.. and didn't find a amplifier at the passenger side speaker and behind the drivers side speaker.. zo.. no mazda radio no amp? @ted.. yes me very speak good english.. and now let's comment on your dutch :P I hope it's still clear what I'm typing :D |
89 n/a speaker amp is by the passenger's legs. just take the amp out, and plug the input and output harness together. works like a charm.

woah woah....are these amps in the s4's too? (88 gxl)
