Quick Question - Cooling System

Hey everyone, I just have a simple question that I couldn't really find an answer to online. So I just did a diagnosis check on my 7, and the only error code is Error Code #9, which is the Water Thermo Sensor (according to banzai-racing).

I just wanted to double check that I'm buying the correct replacement. I've searched online and have read that this sensor has a green connector, this is the only one I found similar.

But it's listed as "Coolant Temperature Sensor" and wanted to know if it's the same as the Water Thermo Sensor?

I'm sorry that this is such a noob question. :(

That would appear to be the correct one. So long as it's an accurate representation in the picture. Sometimes places like Autozone/O'reilly have a hard time distinguishing between the sensor for the ECU, and the sender for the gauge.

That looks like it.
It is located behind the waterpump housing.
I would double check the connector First before you order it though,as the connector often gets brittle and tends to back off of the sender.
In that area, the harness sits there on the housing and waterpump housing area, and things get brittle with age and heat.
Now,If the Sender gets disconnected it will tend to make the engine hard to start when Hot...just make sure the connector and the pins inside are fine. This will alleviate hot start.
good luck.

Thanks for the quick responses! Does this seem to be it? If so, I'll check the connector right now. Haha.

Okay, I'm pretty sure thats the connector and I just checked it. It seems like it just got too old? :(

Does anyone know where i can get a replacement connector fast?

You'd have to look at the connection to the sender and see if there is an Alternative.
Guys selling on forum sometimes have a Crappy harness and will sell the Connector itself.
My suggestion is to find a Place that sells Injectors and see if they have a Pigtail you can use for that sender.
IF,and only IF you are having a Hard time finding it,then PM me.I can cut a connector off a Broken harness I have here.(My mind tends to wonder with age..lol!)

I cant remember if the thermosensor uses an EV1 clip. If it does AutoZone stocks them for like $7. If you need a quick fix pull the pins out of the connector and solder/crimp female spades on the wire. Be sure to insulate them with some tape or shrink tube.

If you need one quick, just go to your local auto parts shop, O'Rilleys, Autozone, Carquest.

Have them cross reference this Mazda Part Number - 8574-18-8400. They should be able to pull it up quickly. Carquest was able to get it to me the same say that I ordered it.

*edit* This is only for the sensor! Sorry, totally thought you needed the sensor. This is not for the harness clip.

Do you guys think this will work? I googled a thread and it said a Bosch Fuel Injector Clip will work.

Make sure the sensor has a center notch. I cant remember what it looks like and my cars covered in snow.
