Quick question about rebuilds!!!
 

there is probably no easy answer to this but....

i have to , well want to, rebuild by 13B turbo 2 S5 engine. I really have no experience with rotary engines, only alittle, i am only 17 so ya. but i was thinking about buying a rebuild kit from atkins with an intructional video and all, but i want to know how hard it is to actually rebuild it. i mean do you need a lot of experience or does the video really break it down for you. i dont have a lot of money and i am driving a mazda mx6 right now which pisses me off. I really want to have my rx-7 back. So how hard is it to rebuild my engine??? anything will help thank you.

advice: don't do it!! let someone experienced do it for you

besides, do you even have the adequate tools or garage equipment?

honestly.....by the time u buy the proper tools to spec, and measure the parts u'd probably could have pay the extra to make sure u had a workin motor...u should look up felix wankel and his rebuilds....kinda disappointing to spend 1k on a rebuilt kit just to find out u snaged a coolant seal and had to rebuild again....

well........... i never worked on any engine in my life and i JUSS rebuilt my t2 motor and it runs alot better than b4. iono man how ambitious for knowledge are u? if u dont mind screwing up den do it, if ur juss a rich kid, then get it done, and if ur not a rich kid and want to challenge urself, then do it.

after rebuilding my motor, i now understand 70% of the threads on this section of the forum.

in other words, i dont feel like a noob anymore.. sorta..

There was a teenager who here who has a LOT of experience pulling and tearing apart a rotary engine. Maybe you can ask him about his experience(s).

hey, long time since ive been on the fourm, i think im the teenager everyone is refering to, i attempeted to rebuild many engines and failed like 4-5 times, ive learned if you take your time and are VERYYYY carfull with your specs and clearences you could pull it off, if you are not Extreamly experenced with working on cars i would DEFF not recommend it.. i learned the hard way EVERY possible mastake you can make when rebuilding a rotary engine.. if u have any questions feel Free to aim me - Felixwankel88 itz the best way to contact me, im never on the fourm no more

What you should do is buy a DIY video first, watch it and then determine if you are up to the job. Otherwise our rebuilds start out just slightly higher then the rebuild kit is going to cost you.
