quick question About AFM Pin out testing

I am trying to figure out why my car starts and then dies almost immediatley. Most say that this is an idication of an AFM connection or AFM problem. In testing Pin 2 I (the AFM pinout on the ECU) 89 S5 TII, I came up with 4.9 volts. This is good. However when I test the same pin with the ignition switch off, I am getting continuity between this pin and ground. It is not infinite. Should I be getting any continuity at all at this pin with the power off? If I unplug the plug from the ECU, and test this wire (on the harness side), it no longer goes to ground. No continuity. Any ideas?

Check and make sure there are not leaks past the afm into the intake, i forgot to put the bottom nut back on the intake between the elbow and the throttle body and it did the eaxct same thing, make sure its all seeled up nice and tight.

If 2I reads what you say with the key to ON, then there is no problem with it at all. Normal

Thanks guys for the answers. I guess I feel a little silly as I have the TMIC off without a bypass "pvc" hooked up. THis is a fairly large vacuum leak. I have started it befor without the IC on and it idled fine. I guess Hailers my concern was that I was getting continuity between the br/w wire and ground with the ignition switch to off posibly indicating that that wire was going to ground.
