quick question
 

My car failed emissions testing, 3 times, running on ~%60 ethanol. All three times I was running extremly rich and as a result kept passing everything except HC, which I just barley fail. So the next step is to get the car to not run so rich. My question being do I just go ahead and buy/dyno tune an s-afc? Someone else mentioned something about replumbing the BOV back into the intake like it was stock, but is that going to make a enough of a difference to pass? tia for advice

Something tells me rerouting the BOV back into the intake stream will do nothing for an emissions test.

Well I dont think many people realize just how amazingly strict emisisons are in WI. Emissions tests here consist of 10 min dyno runs at different revs accelerating and decelerating. Now with that out of the way, that was my thought on it as well. Someone said something about the stock fuel computer injecting more fuel at blow off, and if my memory serves me correctly the stock BOV did route back into the intake.

:confused: Anyone know anything more about the stock computer increasing fuel at blow off? Im really in a jam here because school started and I need my car =(

Yes, an open-vented BOV will cause a momentary rich condition when it opens. Does the BOV open during the emissions test?

I notice you have no air pump. D'ya think that might be part of the problem? ;)

The bov does go off numerous times in the emissions test, like i said its a dyno run, its pretty much bull =p As for the air pump yah I know =-D But my split air pipe was ripped to shreds so I would have to pay ~$100 for a new one and if im going to spend money I might as well jsut get an s-afc?
