quick BLITZ BOV sound question

my previous turbo II had a different style blitz bov then my current turbo II. is there a difference in sound between the older style blitz and then new one? or am i just remembering it differently. i swear the older one had a much more aggressive sound. the image with 2 bov's is what my old one was, and the other is the one currently installed on my car. i'm currently running a K&N drop in filter where as before i had a generic cone style filter.

thanks.

If you're worried about the sound... Then why not get the older style Blitz? Maybe your new one is a knock-off.

Whatever you do, don't remove the K&N air filter.

it looks really authentic right down to the molded blitz logo on the side. however i suppose like anything else out there, if there is a need for something, there are scumbags willing to make knock-offs. before i spend $100 on a nice used one i want to be sure that there is a difference in the sound.

Sorry but the BOV painted black (I'm assuming this is the one on your current car) is clearly a fake. I sell a TON of Blitz, and that right there is quite a poor copy at that.

Seeing as how the Super Sound Dual Drive is discontinued and the Venturi Drive is the new hot shiz I found the attached old pic on the Blitz UK site...

Difference #1 - Vacuum fitting casting boss. If you look at yours and the actual Blitz you'll notice the flange should protrude more than yours does. May be the angle and the fact yours is painted black, but it sure looks a lot more flush on yours.

Difference #2 - Top portion of the BOV that you should be able to take apart to gain access to the diaphragm and spring. Again difficult to tell because yours is painted black, but you can tell the difference in the body casting at the gasket (larger step).

Difference #3 - BOV Body Ribbing. If you notice on the official Blitz pic, the center rib extends onto the BOV flange where the horn or SUS filter would bolt on just a tad bit. Again difficult to tell since yours is painted black, but does not look like the ribbing extends to the horn/filter flange in that area.

Differences I can't verify since I can't actually see it first hand... I've seen on knock off SSDD BOV's with the incorrect logo. If you look at the official pic you'll see the Blitz logo has a raised rectangle backing from the casting mold. I've seen some knock off's of the SSDD BOV that the Blitz is casted in smooth with the body and there is not a rectangle around the logo. Sometimes the thunder bolt "I" is off as well. Have seen the bolt on horns with the incorrect dimensions as well. Haven't taken apart a Blitz BOV in a while but I was also pretty sure they use a 1.25 thread pitch for the allen head bolts. Lots of knock offs are 1.5 pitch. Blitz BOV springs are I think red, blue or yellow/gold.

99.9% sure the painted black BOV is a fake Blitz...

Keep your oem intake with drop in filter. You'll probably loose hp with a bolt on cone filter.

Since you now have the drop in filter and most likely the stock box for it and ducting before it, I'm not surprised it sounds different. That may be all of the difference.
