questions about stock blow off valve
I have a couple questions:
First, will it harm anything to disconnect the BOV from the intake and let it just vent to the atmosphere? Im thinking about trying to make a straighter intake pipe, and i dont really want to have to fool with a connection to the BOV. Or i might unhook it anyway just to see what happens, like if its louder or see question #2: Ricer question: Will it make me shoot flames between shifts better if the bov is vented to the atmosphere? It seems like it should make it run rich between shifts with that air not going into the intake anymore. Thanks in advance for any input. |
Yes you can blow it into the atmosphere and yes it's louder. Just plub the TID if you remove it. Don't know about the flames though

Thanks. I think maybe i'll try it just for the heck of it. Its weird having an rx-7 that runs so good, now im LOOKING for stuff to fool with, haha. And im not really going for the loud bov sound, but i guess ill see what happens. Some nice flames would be cool though, but like you, im not sure if that will happen.

it wont happen. flames that is. if you have full emissions it wont spit anything. now if you take the cat off, YES. other than that, no.

I have the 3inch racing beat turbo-back system, which is straight through all the way, and a walbro 255. I can pop little flames sometimes, but not enough to be intimidating.

Oh and again im not going to do it just to make it louder or to see if i shoot flames easier, so dont think im a ricer. Im just wondering if it would happen. ;)
