Question for those with the TID mod.
 

OK, I am attempting to do the TID mod to my FC... I have been using www.1300cc.com as a guide, but I have a couple questions... He says he is using ABS pipe... As in the plastic crap at Home Depot? Is there some sort of high temperature ABS I should be looking at? Am I missing something here? Also, I went to the local ricer shop, and they have the silicone connectors... Will they stand up to the heat of being mounted against the turbo? Or, once again, am I missing something? The last thing I want is a bunch of melted plastic running into my turbo/engine... That would be bad. So, for those of you who actually HAVE the TID mod, what exactly are you using? Can you be EXTREMELY specific? Thank you in advance.

the abs and rubber from home depot works fine.

metal and silicon is better but is 2 or 3x more money

My friend buys mandrel u-bends from a place and cuts it down to size. You can use ABS if you want, but i would recomende something a little stronger. As for the silicone: it should work fine, most silicone connectors are made for high temp conditions. PM 2a+ron, he sells TIDs with the mandrel bend for a good price.

Scott - The guy at the ricer shop has just plain silicone connectors for $6 a pop, or "braided" silicone connectors for $30 or so... Which one should I go with?

since you are asking about silicone connectors, i guess you are going with some sort of metal pipe. probably aluminum. good choice. if you are replacing the stock rubber TID, might as well make it look nicer, not to mention better quality.

i used a polished aluminum intake piping for either eclipse or civic(not sure) and cut the pipe as needed to fit under the hood. looks great; and will report performance improvements as soon as i get her right.

The air going into the turbo has not been heated and if any thing cools down the part your going to be conecting the hose,pipe or what ever you decide.

I just had an exhaust shop bend me a piece of 3 inch pipe to my specs and then went to autozone and bought some of the ricer cold air pipe couplers. Works fine and now my cone filter sits right behind my right headlight. A headlight scoop and I'd be set. And the howling turbo sound is now even louder. swweeeeet.
