Question to those with Greddy Water Temp gauges
 

When I turn my car off, the gauge needle falls all the way to the right side, instead of falling to the left and 'hanging' down. Instead it goes the opposite direction, and pegs against the limiter on the hottest (150+c) temperature side.

This happens whenever I cut the ignition.

Also, whenever I turn the ignition on my car, the gauge does not respond. It takes about 3 minutes to warm up, and then the gauge suddenly 'springs' from being pegged on the far right side to whatever reading it is currently at (80* or so).

Is my gauge defective or wired wrong? I had a very reputible shop do my work, so I don't know what to do.

I originally assumed the 'springing into place' behavior was because the sensor needed to warm up, but I'm not sure I believe that any more after seeing the way other peoples gauges 'hang'.

my greddy water temp peak hold guage does that springing after 3minutes or so also... never looked into why

It could be fault sensor or wiring to sensor.

well, is your sensor mounted after the thermostat? I had the greddy water hose adaptor. the springing you are refering to could be this: the thermostat is closed until it reaches opening temp. so, the sensor is reading 0. all of a sudden the thermostat opens and the sensor goes from reading 0 to whatever the temp the water is. I have since moved the sensor to the back of the WP housing. The staying at max when ignition is off is strange. is your gauge oriented like you rotated it clockwise? or is it straight up and down? either way, I wouldnt worry about it too much
