question for those with an auto --> manual swap
Hey guys. Couple of questions for you guys that have swapped trannies.
Do you have a working clutch-starter interlock? If so, can you explain how it was set up? My car doesn't have this right now and I'd like it to. Do you still have a functioning AWS (3000 RPM cold start)? If you do, how did you retain that feature? Agian, my car doesn't have this right now and I'd like it to. Do you have a pulsing idle when the engine is warming up that then settles in to a very steady 800 RPM idle? Do you have any problems with AC and stalling at idle? Right now, my car idles smooth and steady at 800 RPM whwn warm, but drops to 500 and threatens to stal if I put the AC on. It worked with no problem when it was auto. Thanks in advance. Greg |
I dont seem to have the problems that you have.
not sure what a clutch-starter interlock is but if its the micro switch that doesnt allow you to start your car unless the clutch is depressed then I can tell you how to wire it up. |
Yeah, V8 Killer that is exactly what it is. I don't want the starter to engage unless the clutch is depressed.
So your car still revs up to 3000 for 15 seconds on a cold start? |
Easy, just wire the line you ran from the starter solenoid to the black/red wire under teh dash through the switch on the pedal, simple! :)

So your car still revs up to 3000 for 15 seconds on a cold start? you can do it sonicrat's way or if you did anything like my writeup https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=201073 you can do it with a relay. heres how, 1- mount your microswitch from the manual pedal assembly above the clutch pedal and you should have two wires coming from it 2- connect one wire from the microswitch to a switched ignition wirem, the wire you want is going to be BLK/WHT 3- mount your relay fairly close to your starter wire, it is in the same group of wires as your switched igintion wire 4- connect the other microswitch wire to the pin marked "85" on your relay 5- connect pin makred "86" to a ground 6- locate your starter wire, here are the colors for all second gens 1986 BLK/GRN 87-88 BLK/RED 89-91 BLK/BLU 7- cut the wire in half, connect one end to pin "30" on your relay and the other to pin "87" your done |
