question for soul assasin
 

You have a sequential tranny, right? What type of setup is it, is it clutchless shifting, or is it like F1(press the clutch and shift lever either up or down). Just curious. Love the car, it's my inspiration. And if you can, got any more pics of the 7? maiure@msn.com

It's clutchless shifting, if you want it to be. You need to either let off of the gas or hit the rev limiter to switch gears without the clutch.

And in F1, there is no clutch to punch. Only paddles. RIght is up, left is down.

Its semi-clutchless.
You only have to use the clutch when shifting into 1st or reverse, or downshifting.
You just upshift as fast as you can, and most straight cut gearboxs are geared to keep you in the powerband when you need it.
You could use the clutch on upshifts, but don't need to. I'm not sure about when just casually driving, Soul Assasin could answer that.
And the transmission cost about $6k from HKS. It's an HKS Dogmission (because it has dog rings). It has straight cut gears (which allows you to not use clutch).
I think I've seen soul say he could get another gear (6th) put in for about $1k.
HKS makes these for quite a few japanese cars. And I think its a bolt-in affair.

Oh and if you want to know what it sounds like. It makes a whirring sound like a crotchrocket because of the straight cut gears. There is a link to a video of Exit13b's straight cut tranny on here somewhere to give you a better idea of the sound.

Thanks guys, and by the way, if you were thinking F1(like Montoya, and Schu) it isn't right paddle to shift up, left to shift down, and they do use a clutch. The clutch is the top left paddle, shift up is top right, shift down is bottom right. And there are other classes(maybe not F1, prolly indy) that use a clutch pedal, the sequential tranny is geared to upshift when the lever is thrown back, downshift when pushed foward.

Yep, you're right. Never knew that. I knew that in "F1" road cars (360, 355) there is no clutch. Guess F1 is extra cool!;)
