QUESTION on exhaust and turbo removal.
I gotta remove the exhaust on my car after I go through emmissions. There is a small leak in the front, fortunatly the guy at the emmissions station said they will still test the car.
After I get the sticker I am going to put on a RB turbo back system. Part of the reason for this is I know my cats are pretty much clogged up, and I dont like cats. Also because I want more performance and the exhaust must be removed anyways to fix a leak. SO I have to yank everything off... Heat shield, turbo back, and possibly components in front of the turbo because I have a leak. The leak may also be coming from a cracked turbo and/or manifold. Would this be hard to weld cracks myself? I have a copper wire welder here. How hard is it to remove all this junk without destroying the stock system? (I know heat shield has got to be ripped off). I want to preserve the exhaust and stock cats for the next emmissions test. BTW my car is a 1987 TII, looks like a bitch to get some of those rusted nuts and bolts off. |
