Question on engine differences.

Still learnin here. Did a forum search and wasn't able to find anything to answer my question. So here we go....

Is the T2 engine, the same as any turbo engine for an FC?
If not, how can you tell the difference?

Got a project coming up where I'm hoping to learn a lot about these engine's, but i have to be able to identify it first so i can adjust accordingly.

The Series 4 (1987-88) and Series 5 (1989-92) engines are slightly different. However, most of the components can be mixed and matched, so if you have a junk yard engine then it may have various parts on it. Posting pictures would be the best way to identify what you have.

should have pics by next week. I bought the engine off a buddy, who got it from a friend and we have no clue about it other then it's a turbo 13b with tranny, and the apex seals need to be replaced.

My plans are to fix it up and swap out my current S4 NA motor.

The NA to TII swap, there is an FAQ for it. Also its highly advisable to stay in the same series.

Also, don't believe the hype about the apex seals without verifying first. I bought my car with blown apex seals yet all I had to do was replace the fuel pump.

Well at this point im considering a full engine rebuild on the motor. I have no plans to drop it in till im assured that it's gonna run(being that i wont drive the wife's minivan, so it's my only daily driver) so i plan to rebuild over time and replace in the next few months or so.
