Question about rotor housings

Ok i blew my motor, now have to two blown rear rotor motors one has a bad rear housing with 20,000 miles on it and the other has 90,000miles on it and the front rotor is fine, can i use the front rotor housing for the rear of my 20,000 miles motor?

I have heard of people trying this, but never heard if it worked or not. I know the front and rear have different part numbers. I would guess that it would work, but there might not be a sensor plug in on one of the housings? Other than that, the housings should be the same I would think.

'81-'85 12A and 13B the front/rear housings are the same.
All other years you need the two seperate housings.

Yes you can use the front on the rear, what I've been told though (never checked) is that you need different housings if you are planning on keeping your EGR. I know you can pass inspection without one cause rotarys produce very low NOx emissions. There shouldn't be a problem.

Someone please feel free to jump in and correct me :)

hmm I never knew there was a difference. they both have knock sensor holes. they both have the exact same bolt holes on the top, they both have the turbo coolant holes in the housing but the intake manifold just blocks one of them. I've never seen any difference. but I'm certainly no expert.
