Question about electrical piece.

Well, I replaced my battery wires, and in the process a couple of wires broke. Most of them I could repair, but there was one that was connected to the clutch slave cylinder. It is a little black box with 0.47/250 and below that, R17G. The black box used to have a wire coming out the back and bolted onto the clutch slave cylinder bolt.

Can I just replace this with a terminal connection? Is it just a ground? I check the resistance on it, and it showed open connection. Thanks!

Alright. Turns out, after some digging, that this black box is a condenser.

So, do I have to buy one new from the dealer, or is there a generic part I can use?

I don't think I can salvage this one, the wire broke right at the condenser.

I would like to try and keep everything working.... :) Thanks!

Covered in the FAQ for FC sticky thread found at the top of this section. You always want to read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting as many commonly asked questions (such as the one you started this thread with) are answered there.

Sorry. I don't usually re-read it before every post. I have read it quite a few times, i just don't remember seeing it. Thanks.

Edit: Ok, yea, same thing I saw before. It states that it is a capacitor. Do I need to order a new one from the dealer, or is there an aftermarket piece that I can get from an auto parts store? The capacitance looks like it is 470 nF. I don't know if a normal capacitor will handle the heat of the engine. But maybe I can rig something up. Unless there is another alternative. Thanks.

Thanks.

Yes it is a capcitor, there have been some people using a polar 047 as a replacement, but it is a vry easy part to get from Mazda or any junkyard.

Is this the wire that is bolted onto the clutch slave cylinder bolt?
Because after dismantling the car I can't figure out where it belongs to :*(
