Question About 3 rotor swap..20b..

Why does everyone say the 20 b swap is so hard..I found a place where i can buy a whole Cosmo front clip with the wiring harness and ecu for like $3000. Why couldn't you just swap the Cosmo harness, get the engine mounts for the Fc..And hook the engine up..??It runs in the Cosmo..Why wouldn't it run in the Fc??? I figure there will have to be some modifications but, why does everyone say it is so hard??

um.. im still new but as far as i know

Its like 7 or 8 inches longer, so you have to either
1, make a custom radatior bracket thingy/radator to make it fit
2, move the tranny back?

lots of custom parts to make everying hookup

i thought i read something about the "sequential turbos do not fit correctly" i dont know exactly what that means but oh well

someone a few weeks ago was looking at a Kit to swap the 20B into a T2 for ike 10 - 12k not including engine

im not an expert, but all the custom parts begin to ad up to alot

It's all very complicated. The stock Cosmo wiring harness and ECU are completely useless in the FC. So this means moving to a standalone system (Haltec, etc). You still have to hack the ignition, but it will run.

Then there are engine mounts, exhaust work, intercooler piping, sway bar modifications, completely new fuel system, hood modification (the 20B intake is too high), new cooling system, and probably a bunch of stuff I'm forgetting.

The engine is the cheapest part of the whole thing. :)

So prove it then?
My challenge still stands - 20B into an FC, 500hp, reliable daily driver, I'll buy it off of you.

1) If you keep the auto trans, you need to bash the transmission tunnel.&nbsp You also need to jumper a lot of the wires from the ECU.&nbsp now has done it - check out the 20B section.&nbsp You need to run a custom driveshaft, and add upgrade radiator (you think your stock FC rad can cool the 20B?), front mount IC (gonna plumb the stock Cosmo IC onto the FC?), upgrade fuel pump (you think the stock FC fuel pump is enough fuel?), custom downpipe, and custom intake and intercooler pipes.&nbsp If you keeping the stock twin turbos and intake, this hits the hood - how are you going to fix this problem?

2) If you go manual trans, you still need to either fool the stock 20B ECU or run stand-alone EMS.&nbsp Add to the above list in #1, flywheel and clutch (all 20B's are automatic, duh) and ignition coils (if going stand-alone EMS, unless going Electromotive).

So you tell me Mr. 20B-swap-isn't-hard, how much time and money will it cost you to get it up and running?&nbsp Talk is cheap - put your money where your mouth is.

You got the patience and the $10k+ to do it, as well as the desire to work long and hard for 1,2, mabye even 3 years on this? It is NOT an easy task by ANY means...

ReTed is right. I've been asking the same question for the last 3 or 4 days now and I've learned that it is way easier to either start with a TII or swap a 13bt into a n/a. But that's just me. I'm with ReTed on this one.

P.S. It would be nice to see though!
