question about 2.5" exhaust on TII???

I have a racing beat 2.5" cat back on my stock TII, other then intake and blow off, Im looking into buying the dp and presilance to connect it to the exhaust....some people have told me that with the stock fuel injectors and such that the 3" exhaust and sometimes the 2.5" exhaust will cause the engine to blow and cause lots of problems.... my question is, is it safe to have the 2.5" exaust with no other mods???? I know ill prolly need a fuel cut defendor.

People run 3" exhaust all the time with no problems except boost creep and fuel cut, but those are easy things to take care of. FCD just buy it and for the boost creep port the wg. If you have the tools already it's just a few hours of your time. You should also get a walbro at least.

2.5" should be fine, just make sure things like the fuel filter and plug wires are fresh

their talking about getting too much boost too the amount of fuel... and with no FCD that CANT be a problem... and even with one until you get a header you shouldn't have to worry... a SAFC couldn't hurt thow...

ok good stuff my plans are because im poor, My car came with a racing beat cat-back so i figure on just getting the 2.5 dp and presilancer to take out the cats and take out the smog pump. Then in 6 months or so (hopefully sooner) ill up grade to the 3" ehaust and bigger injectors and fuel pump safc boost controler.........
any one know where i can get the wastgate ported i dont know how to do it???

what? no FCD and theres no problem withfuel? What? Headers for turbo? what? Safc for stock injectors on a tII? What?

NO, sorry. You need a FCD for sure, buy one if you don't already have one. 3" is better but 2.5 will work more than fine. If you don't have a cat and you are going to port the wastegate(recommended) you should probably get some bigger secondary injectors, and than rewire the fuel pump and maybe upgrade, and than get something like an SAFC, when you can control the bigger injectors not turn up smaller injectors. Search BTW and you will find a million and one answers and ways to go. Those are pretty much the basics, go read fc3spro.org or whatever the suffix for the site is. Real good info there for turbo cars

You can port the wastegate yourself. All you need is a die grinder (or similar). You take the turbo off the car (which isn't entirely fun), losen the bolts that hold the turbine housing on and remove it. Be carefull not to angle the turbine housing when you're pulling it off or you may damage the turbine blades. You may have to tap it with a mallet/hammer. You can rotate it all you want. Once you have it off, make the hole for the wastegate larger. I actually made the hole so large that I welded on a washer to cover it. Take a look at the archive post that NZconvertable made regarding his wastegate port. Also www.fc3spro.com has a write up on how to port the wastegate.

I have a 2.5" single exhaust. At one point I had a 2-21/4 mid pipe. It was okay from a safety perspective, but I think it was right at the edge of safe. If you were to have an intake as well as the 2.5" exhaust /w no cat I think you'd be asking for trouble.
