when an apex seal breaks, what would it take for it to mess up the rotor or housing. I went to talk to a mechanic that knows about rotary engines and he said that it messes up the rotor right away. kinda new to rotary engines, any info would help

if you blow an apex seal, usually the housings end up pretty damaged. Can't say I've ever even seen a house that wasn't damaged after popping an apex seal.

and the rotor?

i believe the rotor is usually better off. but not always. if the seal is just stuck then the both could be in good shape.
