putting engine in
 

i just have a couple questions. first of all how do you guys preffer dropping your engines back in like whith what on it and what do u guys think i could get for my engine just the short block. it has a bad corner seal but thats just a 25 dollar fix.

I usually drop them in without the intake system installed.

I did mine with everything on it. It would have been a lot easier had the intake and that not been on.

is the tranny out too. I put mine in with the tranny on the motor, no starter . and just the lower intake manifold. Just take out the rad and it will be easy. Make sure you have at least 2 assistants though. It is a pain to do by yourself

yeah....from what i hear (and about to experience) leaving the tranny on during the removal and installation makes it SOOO much easier....as far as alignment and whatnot

Are the factory installed lift points designed to carry this type of load (engine/trans)?

I'm ready to install mine right now and would like to know:confused:

im not sure where we hooked the chain up, but it held just fine...

the hoist, chain, and the hookpoint held up....infact its still hanging on the hoist...has been for over 3 weeks now...

I wonder about the overall length of the assembly and 'threading" it into the trans tunnel?

I tend to agree with leaving the tranny on with the install, I wish I would have done that with mine, everything went well except that part, was interesting trying to line it up. otherwise I had most of the engine intack with the install, minus the alt., air pump, fan and clutch, not sure if I had the butterfly assembly on or not

Ive installed countless engine/tranny combos using the stock lift points. I would venture to say that they motors were dropped in at the factory in this manner also. If you use a "leveler" with your hoist, it makes it so much easier.

I remove the engine and trans as one, with everything removed except for the exhaust manifold and the lower intake manifold. Brake it all apart once it is out of the car and you got a nice shortblock. Installation is just reverse. I have done it more time than I should, and it has worked fine for me. Got it down to an art. Now I just need the car to run:)

yeah. i didnt take out the tranny but it was pretty hard getting it out because when i had it dangling in the air i relized that i had to take the wire harness off, damnit.the engine might be for sale soon, it has a bad corner seal just wondering how much i can get for it
